Success Factors

With his background in Technical Communication, Scott would prefer part-time work with regular/predictable hours. He is interested in learning new things and would like some day to day variation along with a series of known tasks. He works best with one thing at a time versus multitasking and is methodical in his approach (possibly taking more time as he learns new techniques and processes). He prefers to work alone or in an environment with other co-workers all focussed on a common goal with clear parameters. He may have difficulty with social interactions at work and may not initiate them or ask questions. Checking in on how he is doing and providing mentorship when and as needed will be particularly helpful. He may have difficulty accepting feedback due to his perfectionistic tendencies and worries about an age differential with co-workers. Work-life balance is important to ensure good productivity and contributions to the workplace.

Scott will do best with clear communication and a common understanding of the details. Don’t overwhelm him with long to-do lists and ensure any verbal communication is followed up with a written format.
